Mindy Sperry, Arvest Branch Manager in the greater Kansas City area, was recently elected president of the Downtown Kansas City Kiwanis Club* for 2015-2016. She was honored at the installation of officers and directors dinner held on Sept. 24.
Mindy was inducted as a member in January 2013. She wanted to be more involved in the community and she chose this particular club because her grandfather was a member for more than five decades.

“This Kiwanis Club brought him so much joy, and remembering that, I wanted to see what it was all about,” Mindy said.
This particular club’s main focus is to help homeless students who plan to graduate high school. They provide a monthly stipend and host a holiday and graduation party, where the students are given gifts. One in three students receive a scholarship in the name of Mindy’s grandfather and she finds it a great honor to personally present these scholarships.
Mindy, who holds a degree in art education, is very passionate about education and especially the newly formed relationship with
Crossroads Academy of Kansas City.* As part of this affiliation, a few Kiwanis Club members meet biweekly for a lunch buddy program with four seventh-grade students.
Mindy has chaired several of the Kiwanis Club events, served as a board member, vice president and now president. Congratulations, Mindy!
